SPURS HANDED EASY CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP

North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a relatively easy group in the Champions League this season after the draw took place earlier this week. Spurs were given easy fixtures at the end of the latest Champions League group stage draw in Istanbul on Thursday evening.

Manager Antonio Conte and his Tottenham Hotspur players have been drawn in the same group as Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt, French club Marseille and Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in Group D. German side Eintracht Frankfurt qualified for this season’s Champions League after winning the Europa League last season thanks to the penalty shootout win over Scottish side Rangers in the final. Unlike Frankfurt, Marseille and Sporting Lisbon qualified for this season’s Champions League by finishing in the top two in their respective leagues. Marseille finished second behind champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) to seal their return to Champions League football, while Sporting Lisbon made it two successive seasons in the Champions League group stage by finishing second behind champions FC Porto.
