QATAR: MOROCCO TO FACE BELGIUM, OTHERS

Morocco are one of the five African teams going to the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar. The North Africans would be representing the continent at the World Cup 2022 tournament alongside fellow West African team Tunisia, African champions Senegal, Cameroon and Ghana. Morocco qualified for the World Cup tournament in Qatar after seeing off DR Congo in the African playoffs via a 5-2 aggregate victory. The Moroccans made it to Qatar by securing a 1-1 draw against 10-man DR Congo away from home in the first leg before they thrashed the same opponents 4-1 in the second leg to win their playoff tie convincingly.


At the World Cup draw held on April 1, Morocco ended up in Group F alongside Belgium, Canada and Croatia.

Croatia would be hoping to do better at the World Cup 2022 tournament than what they achieved at the last edition on Russian soil. The Croatians impressed a lot of football fans on their way to the final in Russia four years ago before they lost to eventual champions France. Paris Saint Germain (PSG) star KylianMbappe, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann all scored as France beat Croatia 4-2to win their second World Cup title.

Canada surprised a lot of football fans by winning the group format employed in the final round of the Concacaf qualifiers ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament on Qatari soil. The Canadians would beappearing at their second World Cup tournament later in the year after finishing ahead of Mexico and USA in the final round of the Concacaf section of the World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

Belgium are one of the top teams on the European scene. They sealed their place in Qatar by winning their qualifying group ahead of the likes of Wales and Austria.
