FIFA ARAB CUP 2021 DRAW TO HOLD IN QATAR

With club football seasons gradually coming close to an end across the world’s leagues, it is only normal that at this time of the year, different international and Inter-continental tournaments will start coming up so football players can be allowed to accept their country’s call-up and represent their nations at these tournaments.

One of the said tournaments is the FIFA Arab Cup which is organized by the world football governing body FIFA. The tournament is said to be played by Arabian teams as they would all compete and fight to conquer the competition. According to an official announcement from FIFA, the draw for the tournament will be made in Qatar on Tuesday, the 27th of April 2021. The worldwide football governing body also confirmed in the announcement that the draw will be held in a village in the country, known as the Opera House, located in Katara.

NICOLÁS LODEIRO MISSES OUT ON URUGUAY CALL-UP LIST FOR WC QUALIFIERS

While there are still uncertainties surrounding the South American FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying fixtures, Uruguay have already dished out their 35-man squad list and are already getting set for the fixtures.

The Confederation governing South American football CONMEBOL announced this week that the fixtures that were supposed to be played later this month have now been suspended till further notice. In their statement, the Confederation revealed that it will work with the world football governing body FIFA to ensure that everything is put in place before the games kick-off later.

WORLD CUP 2022: IRAN MATCHES POSTPONED

Iran Football Federation has confirmed that the World Cup 2022 qualifiers involving the Iranian national team have been postponed till later this year. This was announced by the football body’s spokesperson AmirmehdiAlavai. Iran were billed to take on Hong Kong and Cambodia next month as part of the qualifiers for the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar but the games have been postponed till June 2021.

The Iran national football team was initially scheduled to face Hong Kong in Tehran, the Iranian capital, on March 25, 2021 before travelling to Phnom Penh to take on the Cambodia national football team five days later. The two World Cup 2022 qualifying games have now been shifted till June. According to Iran Football Federation’s spokesperson Amirmehdi Alavai, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has postponed the games due to concerns from the dreaded Coronavirus. RUSSIA WORLD CUP OPPONENTS REVEALED

 

Russia were the hosts of the last edition of the FIFA World Cup tournament two years ago and they didn’t have to bother about qualification but things are different ahead of the World Cup 2022 qualifiers. The 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament was hosted in Russia and won by France. For the 2022 edition billed for Qatar in two years’ time, Russia will have to go through the rigours of the qualifiers to secure their place at the World Cup 2022 tournament. To this effect, the Russians have been drawn into Group H.


Russia were in Pot 3 at the start of the draw that took place earlier in the month for the qualifiers ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar. The other teams that were in Pot 3 with the Russians include the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Scotland, Iceland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Finland and Greece. At the end of the aforementioned draw, Russia were pitted with five other teams in Group H. The other teams in the group are top seed Croatia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Slovakia and Malta.

MATCHDAY DATES REVEALED FOR UEFA SECTION

 

The matchday dates for the UEFA section of the World Cup 2022 qualifiers have been confirmed as the race to determine the 13 European representatives begins. The 55 teams in the UEFA section have already been divided into ten groups. matchday 1 of the World Cup 2022 qualifiers in the European section starts on March 24, 2001 and the final matchday (matchday 10) will end on November 16, 2021 according to the dates for the qualifiers.


Matchday 1, 2 and 3 games have been scheduled to take place between March 24 and March 31, 2021, while matchday 4, 5 and 6 matches will take place from September 1 to September 8, 2021.Matchday 7 and 8 games have been scheduled for October 2021. The matches would be from October 8 to 12, 2021. For Matchday 9 and 10 games, they would take place as from November 11 to November 16, 2020.
